I created this wild little pendant with a crazy piece of turquoise I picked up in Santa Fe a few weeks ago.
It's natural Blue Moon turquoise from Nevada, and it's one of my favorite types, unlike any other. This particular piece is especially unique: an odd, long, asymmetrical spire of turquoise with black nodules, the whole thing pretty much shaped like a Willy Wonka Everlasting Gobstopper. I wanted to keep it exactly that way and build the piece around it.
I paired it with a beautiful black opal that's on fire with vibrant greens and reds from one angle, then looks like a galaxy from another.
Got a little creative with one of my vintage silver
Mercury dimes, but still wanted to keep it simple and cool, so I turned it into this little domed cross with a shepherd-hook bail on the back that I milled with a reeded coin pattern to match the edge of the dome.
Handmade from scratch with sterling silver, a real 1940 vintage silver dime, and natural stones.
Overall length is 2 1/8 inches.
